  1. I've never blogged before, so I hope I'm doing this correctly. As for my Intro Entry:
My name is Derek Smith. I'm originally from NY (diehard Yankees fan) and moved south to attend grad school, first at UT (M.S.) then at Florida State (Ed.S.). I moved to Nashville to begin teaching at Nashville State Community College and have been here 11 years. Just returned to grad school at MTSU to pursue a Ph.D. in Math Ed. (this is my second semester), so I'm taking this course as part of the core. I'm going part-time, so I figure I'll finish my degree around the time I'm set to retire. :)

  2. My name is Ryan Sargeant. I have lived in Idaho for the last 7 years where I work as a faculty member at BYU-Idaho teaching chemistry and any other science classes they will let me.

I have four kids (ages 3, 5, 8, and 11) who currently dictate my free time but I used to enjoy basketball, mountain biking, and trap shooting.

I am taking this course as part of the PhD - MSE degree and am happy to report that I will probably finish all of the required coursework this summer (depending on how willing MTSU is to make course substitutions).

I love to swim and read books. I will not get to fully enjoy the pool until the cicadas are gone and all my summer classes are complete in the beginning of July.

  6. Hi, This is Candace. I have never blogged before, so this should be interesting! Like I said, "Life is an Adventure. Step down, step out, ..." I have already found this confusing to navigate. Good news... I can only get better.

I am taking this course as part of the math-ed MSE phd program. I am in my second semester. I too may complete this in time to retire from high school teaching and look into a second career in university programs of math-ed.
